the world lemon and a mexican bakery

this morning i had a weird dream. i was sitting in some sort of creative writing class and it was pretty crowded, and the teacher was reading something i wrote out loud, and he was critiquing it, saying i shouldn't start a sentence with "and". and i told him that technically i knew that but it was my writing and i didn't really care. anyway, i looked in some textbook we had and in it was a picture of the world lemon, which in my dream i realized was somehow related to joseph campbell's idea of the world navel. i drew a picture of it when i woke up. there it is, the world lemon.

i also went to a mexican bakery today. it was in lindenwold near la esperanza, and i was sort of convinced that it was owned by the same people.. so i thought it would have to be crazy good. thats why i wanted to go. i wanted to try some kind of special mexican dessert and i thought that would definitely be the place to do it. it looked like sort of a hole in the wall from the outside, but i thought maybe it would be more special on the inside. it wasn't, really. inside they had a small bakery area and then a little shop with a bunch of mexican food products. two of these that were the most interesting (and grossest) to me were the red block of guava paste and the dried whole shrimp.
i still wanted to try something though, so sam and i split a big cookie, it was a vanilla cookie with chocolate swirls. it was pretty good. soft, a little doughy, and not too sweet. i'd eat it again but i don't know if i'd go back there to get it. thats about it for now.
